Turbo Alcohol 160HP Drag Sportster | FULL BUILD Timelapse
Join me as we build a MONSTER 1275 sportster that is absolutely mental!
You know, I actually really don't like how overused the word INSANE is on social media - people post videos of straight piped 13 second cars and call it insane, when it isn't. This build IS ACTUALLY INSANE
The owner of this bike messaged me about a year ago, and they were running low 8's in the 1/8 mile with a 100HP Hammer kit. After much trial and error, they were able to get into the 7's with a 7.87 at 92mph run, which is the PB posted in the video.
They were wanting to go turbo, with a goal of getting the bike into the 6's in the 1/8 mile. So we cooked up a plan to get the bike here, and put on my 1991-2006 Sportster turbo setup on the bike....but there were some issues that I felt needed to be looked into further. The motor was REALLY noisy, such that I insisted we investigate further. We came to find out that the whole motor was roached - Pistons, Cylinders, crank, the whole 9 was cooked, the only reusable parts were the heads/cams and cases. So we went to work - stripped the cases, rebuilt the motor with a new 1275 kit, had the crank rebuilt with new rods installed/trued and reassembled. We then broke the bike in NA on pump gas, re-did the 40-80 baseline (and actually improved it, even with much lower compression, 2-2 pipes with baffles, and a smaller carb on worse fuel).
After that, we installed our turbo setup, and on 8psi, made a HUGE improvement in power. We then poured in the Ignite RED and turned up the boost to 9psi, 12psi, and finally 15psi. The result was a fire-breathing, rabid MONSTER of a motorcycle that will power-wheelie at half-throttle in 3rd gear. The craziest motorcycle I've ever ridden, and the 40-80 on 9.25psi was similar to a liter bike. Not saying this will hang with a superbike on the big end, but watch out....this thing is going to be a WEAPON in the 1/8 mile once he gets it dialed in with the wheelie bar and starts upping the boost.
