Mountain Bike Wheel Size Experiment | Riding With A 29er Front & 27.5 Rear

The Scott Genius is a rad bike in the sense that it allowed us to test the differences in ride characteristics and feel between 27.5" and 29" wheels on the same bike, with only minor geometry differences. This got us thinking...why not have one of each? We can...but does that mean that we should?

Taking influence from the motocross world, Canyon have recently released their E bike, the Spectral ON:, which features a 29" front wheel and a 27.5+ Rear wheel. Is this something that would make sense for a mountain bike? What about racing rules that bikes have to have 2 wheels the same size?
