Pioneering Climate-Smart Farming in Belize — Ya’axché

Ya’axché has been protecting wild places and empowering communities in the Maya Golden Landscape since 1998. A major focus of Ya’axché's work includes supporting over 120 farmers in pioneering climate-smart farming in the Maya Golden Landscape in southern Belize.

Ya’axché, with the invaluable support of partners and donors, promotes agroforestry, Inga alley cropping and apiculture. Diversified income streams, healthy wholesome foods, wildlife presence and forest protection are some of the many benefits of long-term, climate-smart farming practices identified by the farmers.
