San Diego County’s self-serve regular gasoline averaged $5.94 a gallon, inching up about $1.20 since the U.S.-Israel Iran conflict began, despite Friday’s pause at $5.938. The county’s price had just posted back-to-back declines Wednesday and Thursday after a record streak of 40 increases in 41 days, with a total rise of roughly $1.34. The current level is 2.4 cents higher than a week ago, about $1.20 higher than a month ago and roughly $1.04 higher than a year ago, though still 49.7 cents below the Oct. 2022 peak of $6.435. Analysts note prices were rising gradually with seasonal norms before the Feb. 28 Iran attack sharply pushed pump costs higher. Kandace Redd of the Automobile Club of Southern California said Southern California’s lowest pumps are typically between $5.25 and $5.40. Nationally, the average climbed to $4.091, its highest since August 2022, up six straight days and 11.5 cents total. So far.
