Pakistan-Iran-Turkey rail link to resume || Istanbul -Tehran - Islamabad Railway Line
The Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad (ITI) train is set to resume operations from next year, Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoglu has said.
The minister made the remark while addressing the 10th meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) in Istanbul, reports the Middle East Monitor. Key requirements for the revival of the service have been completed, Karaismailoglu said. The rail route covers a total distance of 6,500km, with 1,990km in Pakistan, 2,600km in Iran and 1,950km in Turkey. Designed primarily for the transport of freight, the rail link will boost economic ties between, Pakistan, Iran and Turkey. The ITI framework was launched in 2009 as a project under the ECO, and the rail line has only been used for trial runs since.
