Tearing off vehicle wrap but it’s not vinyl it’s a rubber ?

My old Subaru BRZ when I bought, it was wrapped in a matte blue wrap that I didn’t like so I started peeling it off to notice right away that it wasn’t plastic vinyl it was rubber. I found that very strange. So I’m guessing in the end it must’ve been sprayed with something like plastic dip! Unless I’m wrong. 😑
