Motorcycle alternator hydro project

This is a video of a generator for a micro hydro system in the Philippines made from motorcycle parts. The goal was to build something cheap that could be maintained easily using only parts available in rural areas of the Philippines. The generator will later be used with either a Pelton wheel or a waterwheel. The only difficult part was the shaft which was made by a machine shop. Everything else came from junk motorcycles, scrap yards, or the hardware store. Voltage is a steady 13.5-14V through the regulator with enough RPM. Output is unknown, but it should be enough for a constant 200-300W at least (hopefully).

Update: After using is with a waterwheel I can say that it DOES work, but only puts out about 30-50 watts. It was tested using automotive light bulbs. It should charge a battery fine. Seems to not be very efficient, but it does work. The biggest problem now is finding a place for my waterwheel on our creek (which can have wicked floods).
