Eugenia Cooney's Brain, by Someone Who's Been There...

I missed ED awareness week this year, so here's a rather bluntly stated opinion, but it seems necessary - Eugenia has been happily ignoring everyone and everything for years, from concern to mockery to tough love and trolling - she seems desensitised to the point of deafness, and as such, it's completely pointless pleading with her directly - all that can be done is to minimise the damage she does to other people, and leave her alone to get real and sort herself out.

I definitely do *not* agree with the stuff you see on Intervention, where an addict is thrown out of a family and left homeless and alone for non-compliance, that is disgusting thing to do to someone with mental health issues, help should always be available, *but*, in Eugenia's case, we are not her family, we are not her home - we can do absolutely nothing to help. We can, however, choose not to inflict further harm on her, or on ourselves, which is where I fully support the 'bye for now' approach.

On myself and my ED history, I would like to make more videos about it in the future, just the weird, weird world of online ED communities, and the wonderful people I've known within that world over the years. My approach may be jarringly upbeat for many people, who've never heard ED'd folks joking about their shared disorders and bonding over things as bizarre and grotesque as a photo of a toilet full of puke, with a smiley-face drawn on the lid in selfsame puke, because yeah...it was a truly, amazingly nutty world in the very earliest days of the internet. A very irreverent trip through this world is on the cards soon! C:
