Top 4 biggest asteroid impacts on earth history | Our Major Four Picks

Earth has experienced devastating craters throughout its life caused by the most largest asteroid impacts on earth history by huge colliding with its surface. Every time a collision occurs, it creates a vast crater. Due to time-lapse many of the earth's holes have eroded and become smaller but left a long-lasting mark on the earth's surface. Watch to get all the interesting details

Whenever a large asteroid impacts the earth, it creates a crater. There is a general scientific consensus that the largest craters mark an enormous asteroid impact.

1. Kara Crater
Location: Nenetsia, Russia
Size: 40 miles (65 km) in diameter,
Estimated Impact date: 70.3 million years ago
It’s now eroded significantly; the Kara crater is a non-exposed impact structure in Russia. Some have claimed that the impact structure comprises two craters next to each other: the Kara and the Ust-Kara crater.

2. Chicxulub Crater
Location: Yucatán, Mexico
Size: 106 - 186 miles (170 - 300 km) in diameter
Impact date: 65 million years ago
Situated on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico, numerous scientists think that the meteorite that left this crater caused or contributed to the dinosaurs' extinction. With its massive size could prove it's the biggest yet.

3. Popigai Crater
Location: Siberia, Russia
Size: 56 miles (90 km) diameter
Impact date: 35.7 million years ago
Russian scientists believe that this crater location contains trillions of diamond carats, making it one of the world's largest diamond deposits. They referrer to them as "impact diamonds."

4. Vredefort Crater
Location: Free State, South Africa
Size: 118 miles (190 kilometres)
Impact date: 2 billion years ago
It's the largest verified impact crater on Earth. Although the crater has long since been eroded, the remaining geological structures and its centre are known as the Vredefort Dome or Vredefort impact structure. This crater was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005.
