To whoever reads this description, this is a record of what happened behind the scenes in 2022 and 2023.

Last year for Block Party 2022, we had expected the current president at the time to be the one to edit it together. That was sadly not the case. What ended up happening is that I made a preliminary cut while learning the software, which was never meant to see the light of day. However, when it became clear that he would not be able to complete it, it was already November, and thus, I released it. In my opinion, it's easily the worst of the three. The decision to start off with a cold open was awful. We lacked usable footage, and I lacked the ability to edit videos together. What I made could hardly be considered a montage- it is instead an abstract collection of clips with no creative vision, set to the backing of a pretty good song.

Block Party 2023 is my redemption arc. I have learned how to use the software. I have a lot more usable footage. Too much, actually. This year, I got over my shyness and interacted with other clubs, and meeting up with my friends provided organically funny moments to pepper throughout the montage. Adam also did a great job collecting funny, blooper-ish moments, though his footage required a lot more paring down because of it. I held a tighter grasp over pacing and I matched the movement of the camera. Collecting timelapse footage added energy to the whole piece in places that needed it.

The end result is a video that mostly contains value throughout every shot I chose, and is thus an actual montage that represents the Block Party experience, minus the crippling heat. I'm glad that this turned out well and that I was able to make it before it lost relevance.
