Spending more than £19 million to do more and sooner at Windermere over the next two years
We’re getting set to deliver the largest environmental improvement programme in the country from 2025 and spending more than £19 million to do more and sooner at Windermere over the next two years.
This funding will increase storage capacity in the sewer network and may also include the use of natural solutions such as reed beds or wetland areas so that during heavy rainfall more of the sewer flows can be treated. This work will be targeted at:
• Elterwater pumping station
• Ambleside wastewater treatment works
• Hawkshead pumping station
• Near Sawrey wastewater treatment works
Kevin Sayers from United Utilities shares more.
