FIA calls for law to regulate Pyramid and Ponzi schemes

The Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) says the lack of an enabling law has allowed fraudsters to take advantage of the greed of Ugandans for fast money through pyramid and Ponzi schemes. According to FIA officials who were meeting MPs on the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises, there is a need for a law to regulate these schemes, which operate without licenses. The FIA officials were responding to audit queries for the financial year 2022/2023.
