Turning a Food Desert into an Opportunity | Fed Up (Ep. 1)

North Philly is a neighborhood in flux. But Tommy Joshua – an organizer, and urban farmer – sees this as an opportunity, as he struggles against the systemic inequities of food accessibility through the North Philadelphia Peace Park.

Tommy believes that it’s impossible to tackle climate change and start a revolution within our food systems without talking about food justice – who has access to fresh food, and who doesn’t.

In our first episode of Fed Up, a series celebrating the curious folks hungering for something better, our host Stevie Van Horn finds Tommy on a mission to make the North Philly Peace Park a model for the rest of the country: a center of fresh food, business, schooling, mental & spiritual wellness, and community interaction that provides a solutions for food deserts as an essential nourishing space for his community. #ad
