Having a hip replacement - Part Two: Recovery
This video guides you through the process of recovering from a hip replacement operation.
It was produced in collaboration with the clinical team at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre (NOC), part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and kindly supported by the NOC League of Friends.
1. Initial recovery time
2. The routine on the ward
3. Taking pain medication after the procedure
4. Dealing with pain after the procedure
5. Getting up and mobile with the physiotherapy team
6. Maximising your recovery from the procedure
7. Using the Zimmer frame and crutches
8. Swelling after the procedure
9. Being assessed to return home
10. Using equipment aids to help you
11. Progressing from crutches to sticks
12. Getting up and down stairs
13. Having blood thinning injections
14. Leaving hospital and going home
15. Doing exercises after your operation
16. Increasing activity levels after you get home
17. Showering after the procedure
18. Doing housework
19. Driving after the procedure
