How to Buy a Hydrofoil for the Lake
How to Buy a Hydrofoil for the Lake | Foiling NY
Buying your first hydrofoil can be an intimidating experience. It was for me. There are more than 29 different manufacturers, at my last count. Each manufacturer has multiple front wings, rear wings, fuselages, and masts that can be put together to create a unique hydrofoil. Some manufacturers have more than 30,000 unique hydrofoils that can be created from their own components. I love the flexibility, as it allows us to create exactly what we want, based on what we want to do, but it makes it harder to buy your first one.
I started foiling in 2018, and it took me purchasing four foils before I figured out what I wanted to do on the lake and the type of foil that I needed to do it. I want to save you from making my mistakes. Hydrofoils are expensive ($1500-$3000), so you want to ensure you make the best decision on your first try. In this video, we try to help you figure out think through what you want to do on the lake, and what foils might be the best for you.
