Liberal Senator Claire Chandler says it is “really important” to encourage younger people to become “more community-minded”.

The first policy announcement from the UK Conservative Party is mandatory national service for 18-year-olds.

It comes as UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak tries to shore up his conservative base.
