The ROG Hunter V3 knife and sheath are born out of our collaboration with a Ukrainian knife-craft master who completely hand makes each one of our knives. This knife is intended to be an all-around knife with emphasis on hunting, having a sleek slicing edge and cleaner lines as well as a mirror finish. This is the Version 3 of the ROG Hunter (click to see here). This knife is longer, heavier, has more sophisticated insertions and handle work compared to both the version 1 and version 2 ROG Hunter knives.
Each of these knives is handcrafted from hardness-tested N690 steel. The N690 stainless steel "has the edge-holding properties of D2 steel with less toughness and better corrosion resistance. This alloy is similar to VG10 from Japan. N690 is sometimes compared to 440C. I don't think 440C is a good comparison, VG10 is much closer". For more detailed information on this steel, please see this page. The knife is meticulously crafted and assembled to the highest standards.
Each knife takes a minimum of 10 full days to produce. The blade and handle dimensions are noted in more detail in the dimensions image. The measurements noted here may vary slightly on each knife as they are each handmade.The blade is sharpened to a paper-slicing edge.
This knife has a full tang, meaning the blade steel passes completely through the handle and is secured with a screw at the opposite end. A stainless steel pommel is added to place lace if desired.The spine of this knife is very slightly rounded for comfort during handling. The handle is made of ironwood (one of the hardest and most dense woods in the world) and a stainless steel bolster and pommel for durability. An insert of stabilized and polished mammoth tooth is added for decoration.
The knife blade is 5.6 inches (142 mm) long. Altogether the knife is 10.5 inches (26.7 cm) long and weighs 10.7 ounces (305 grams) alone, and 13.9 ounces (394 grams) together with the sheath.
The included leather sheath is handcrafted to fit precisely this knife, has a built-in belt loop, and also has a welt to prevent inadvertent cutting of the threads in the saddle stitched edge. The belt loop accepts up to a 3" belt. The sheath is decorated with an inlay of snake-skin.
WARRANTY: The knife steel blade and handle has a warranty of 25 years for any manufacturer defects, as well as any breakages under normal use. The knife can be sent back for repairs if anything fails or breaks under normal use.
