Alfred the Great, The Danelaw and some Burnt Cakes.

In the year 865, a Viking invasion took place in the Kingdom of East Anglia. Three brothers had gathered an unprecedented force...because this time, they weren't raiding England, they were going to conquer it.

This force became known as the Great Heathen Army.

The Viking forces soon wiped out many of the old Kingdoms...just one remained. Wessex.

Wessex had a young king on the throne called Alfred the Great. Of course, back then, he was just known as Alfred.

In this latest edition of History with Henry, Henry VIII talks about Alfred the Great, the Great Heathen Army and the formation of what became known as the Danelaw. He also discusses the legand of King Alfred and the burnt cakes.
