Beginners Guide to Making Contact in the Snatch and Clean
In weightlifting we will attempt to keep the bar as close to the body as possible in order to drive the bar up, and produce as much force as possible. To make the lift most efficient we will make ‘contact’ in the second pull. The reason as to why contact occurs here is due to our torso beginning to move behind the bar, as we begin to extend and propel the bar up in the pull.
