“just in case” isn’t logical

“Just in case” sounds responsible. But most of the time, it is not logical. It is emotional.

You are not holding onto the object. You are holding onto the possibility attached to it. The version of yourself that might need it. The situation you are trying to prepare for.

There is a concept called uncertainty avoidance. We keep things not because we need them, but because not knowing feels uncomfortable.

So instead of tolerating uncertainty, you store it.

And over time, that does not create security. It creates weight.
