Walking Dead Star EXPLAINS Plot Behind The Saviors..

Welcome back to Showified. Negan has transitioned from The Walking Dead's big bad to a redeemed anti-hero, but his season 11 capture by the Commonwealth is a callback that makes his time leading the Saviors even darker. Like in Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comic book series, Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan was introduced as one of the biggest threats to Rick Grimes and Alexandria. As the leader of the Saviors, Negan was a brutal dictator who used fear to keep everyone around him in line.

The Commonwealth's decision to take away their captives' names is a fear tactic. The Commonwealth warden wants to separate the forced laborers from each other to break them down into complying with his rules, as explained during the conversation between Negan and the former King Ezekiel. That is largely working, with Kelly pictured as an isolated figure despite having some friendly faces around her. Without their names and without being able to talk to each other, the captives can't form a collective identity which makes an organized uprising difficult even though they outnumber the armed Commonwealth guards. Negan used a similar fear tactic during his time as the Savior's leader, but rather than forcing everyone to remain nameless, he made everyone identify as "Negan". In related news, The Walking Dead season 11's "Outpost 22" episode may explain how the upcoming Maggie & Negan spinoff happens. Season 11 is confirmed as The Walking Dead's final official run, but AMC has already announced numerous spinoffs, one of which is titled The Walking Dead: Dead City and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan alongside Lauren Cohan's Maggie on a road trip to New York. That mere concept raises questions.
