Northern Lights Season Explained | The Aurora Hunt

The best time of year to see the northern lights in Iceland is the end of September or End of March. They can easily be seen from Reykjavik. But driving to remote locations away from light pollution is recommended.

Aurora Borealis happens all year around. Especially around the poles. It just so happens that they are only visible in the dark. And Iceland has plenty of darkness. The visibility is greatly affected by the sun's activity levels and geomagnetic storms. Check out this video to find out why.

Join me on a hunt for the perfect aurora borealis photo.

Here is the app from the video to forecast the Northern Lights. Iceland Ringroad, for Android. No affiliation. It is just good. Apparently not available for iPhone.
