‘Harry Potter’ Star Sir Michael Gambon Who Played Dumbledore Dead at 82

The "Harry Potter" community is mourning the loss of one of its own. Sir Michael Gambon, who played the famed Albus Dumbledore in six of the eight movies for the hit series, has died at the age of 82. His family shared the heartbreaking news with NBC News. “We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of Pneumonia. Michael was 82. We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.” The statement read on behalf of Lady Gambon and Fergus Gambon, issued by publicist Clair Dobbs. His "Harry Potter" costars reacted to the devastating news online.
