In this video I review 3 different ways to join a new ball of yarn. This video will help you if you're trying to Joining two balls of yarn, adding a new ball of yarn, Splice yarn, or just want to see different ways to join or add yarn.

Tie a Knot, Splice Yarn or my version of a Russian Join. The last is my favorite, it's the option my grandma taught me.

Splice Yarn - Spit Splice:
1. Untwist the ends of the yarn from the project you're working on to open up the strands of the old yarn for about 2 to 3 inches.
2. Also split the ends of the new ball of yarn for about the same length and lay the two yarns end to end, so that they overlap.
3. Use some water or spit onto the yarn ends and rub your hands together with the yarns inside.
4.You can stop rubbing your hands on the yarn when the yarn ends are all smoothly felted together.

Russian Join:
1. Thread a blunt needle with one end of yarn.
2. Work the needle through the plies of your yarn for a few inches. Don’t worry if this looks bunched up now.
3. Pull your working yarn through, leaving a small loop at the end. This is where the second piece of yarn will be attached.
4. Thread your needle with the second piece of yarn, then insert the needle into the small loop you created before.
5. Pull a few inches of yarn through the small loop.
6. Like you did before, work the needle through the plies of your second piece of yarn.
7. Give each strand a little tug to smooth out the bunching. You now have a secure join! Trim off any excess ends.
