If you are an International Medical Graduate (IMG) applying to internal medicine residency, then it is really important that you focus your attention on IMG friendly residency programs. One state that most IMGs don’t consider when applying to internal medicine residency programs is Connecticut. Connecticut has a total of 14 internal medicine residency programs, and in this video, Dr. Katta will be going over the top 10 most IMG friendly internal medicine residency programs in Connecticut. There are many different factors that we consider when determining what makes a program IMG friendly. There is more to it than just what percentage of residents in the program are IMGs. There are other factors to consider, including minimum USMLE Step scores (cut-off Step 1 and cut-off Step 2 scores), medical school graduation year cutoffs, and visas offered. (Although Step 1 now has pass/fail scoring, these cut-offs may still apply for scores from prior years.)
