Geza Anda plays Schumann's Etudes symphoniques (1953)

Geza Anda's debut recording for EMI's Columbia label consisted of the Brahms Paganini Variations and Schumann's Etudes symphoniques.

The latter was set down on April 23 & 24, 1953 at EMI's Abbey Road Studio No.3 using the wonderfully responsive Steinway 299 used by so many great artists in that studio.

Anda plays with an exquisite array of tonal colours, incredible dynamic gradations, magical pedalling, precise and varied articulation, and a remarkable sense of rhythm.

[My previous upload erroneously omitted one of the variations so I am replacing it with this one.]
