How to Rig Crabs | Sheepshead Fishing | Fishing Florida

Welcome back to Fish Like Us! Today we're going sheepshead fishing with the mangrove crabs we caught in the last video. If you want to know how to catch sheepshead, and how to rig crabs, stay tuned!

It's not uncommon to use live bait here in Tampa Bay. With shallow, warm water available most of the year, small fish and bait are readily available. In the cold winter months, when the bait moves to deeper, warmer waters, we begin to search for other forms of bait to get us through. Mangrove crabs are a must if you want to catch sheepshead, snapper, red drum, or any of these cold-water fish with ease.

As you saw in last week's video, we have found the easiest way to harvest mangrove crabs is from a dock or pier. There are other methods such as using a trap, but we enjoy the physical activity of fishing almost as much as the act of fishing itself, so we choose to use our bodies and harvest them ourselves. If you don't know how to do this and haven't seen our video, we suggest going back to last week and watching how-to harvest mangrove crabs first.

Once you have mangrove crabs in hand, this video will assist you in securing them to your hook, and fishing them with ease. They are irresistible to the big daddy sheepshead and make wintertime dock fishing so much fun!
