Sort and Recycle with LEGO® We Do 2.0
The children explored the sorting & recycling process. They built a lorry that uses the physical properties of objects, including their shape and size, to sort them. Then they programmed it to tip over only the recyclable waste.
During the workshop we discussed:
- What does it mean to recycle?
- How are recyclable materials sorted in your area?
- Where does your recycling material go to?
The kit we used
For this project we used the LEGO® Education WeDo 2.0 Core Set. The WeDo 2.0 projects are developed with the National Curriculum requirements for science at Key Stage 2 in mind.
It is based upon the latest science curriculum and was created to enhance pupils’ curiosity and science and computing skills. Using tablet computers we provide children access to an easy-to-use programming environment that follows the WeDo 2.0 Curriculum Pack covering themes such as life, physical, earth, space sciences as well as engineering.
The WeDo 2.0 projects are developed with the National Curriculum requirements for science at Key Stage 2 in mind.
These practices represent the expectations of the Curriculum, in that pupils develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding, as well as practical skills.
