James, a young boy, rescues a dog stuck in a river on his way home from school. The dog refuses to move and James notices strange spots on its belly. He takes the dog home, but his parents are initially hesitant to keep it. They eventually agree to help and take the dog to the vet. The vet discovers that the dog is a victim of a criminal organization involved in dogfighting and contacts the police. James and his parents are questioned by the police, and James is briefly arrested before they realize he is not involved. The police decide to use the dog as bait to catch the criminal organization. The plan is successful, and the police arrest the leader, Craig Johnson, and dismantle the organization. The rescued dogs are taken to the vet for treatment, and James is reunited with the dog he saved. The police later visit James and inform him of the successful operation and give him the dog as a reward.
