INTO THE WILD II : Barauli Community Homestay and Chitwan National Park , Nawalparasi

After a fun stay at Jigsaw Nepal, we departed for Barauli Community Homestay, in Barauli. It turned out to be completely different from our typical Homestay. It actually felt like entering a Tharu village. The ambience, the cottage we stayed in and the whole area felt so authentic yet fused with modern day facilities like Wi-fi and attached Bathrooms.

The evening was beautiful, our first activity that day was cycling around the village and visiting Narayani for sunset view. A warm cup of tea on the riverbanks made the trip even more fun. Back at the homestay, we enjoyed typical tharu cuisine which was delicious and interesting.

The next day was full of adventure. We visit the village one more time, this time taking a different route in Homestay’s Green Jeep, join the Chaite Paddy Plantation, watch the locals enjoying Faguwa song and dance. After lunch, we head out for the visit to Chitwan National Park. This time, our preferred method was Jungle Safari. Maybe it was our lucky day, we saw much more wildlife here compared to Sauraha.

The Jungle Safari ended at around 4pm which was followed by a canoeride(boatride) to yesterday’s Riverside spot. The almost hour long boat ride was one of the best experiences of the whole journey. We witnessed a spectacular sunset, something we’d missed yesterday. Adding cherry on top, the locals had a cultural show back at the homestay. The traditional songs and dances were something new for us. Overall, the whole experience was truly worthwhile, we experienced Terai and its beauty in the best way possible.
