Hi there, Grand Design owners. Today, on your 2015 Grand Design Reflection, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Furrion's single zone AC controller for the Chill rooftop AC units from Furrion. We're gonna be installing this with an entire system to get it installed. But this part is available separately, so if you do already have an existing Furrion Chill system, and you've got some issues going on with your control box, you can go ahead and get that swapped out too. The installation is gonna be the same regardless. We're gonna cover some additional wires for some features that we're not installing here, but we do discuss those, so if you've got those on yours, you can get those hooked up too.

And here, we can see our rooftop unit installed. You can see that it does work on a curved roof, as long as your curve isn't more than 15 degrees in either direction. The gasket on bottom of our unit is a nice thick foam gasket, so we don't have to worry about a bunch of prep work with applying a bunch of sealants and screws and things like that on top, we just kinda set the unit up there. And then as we're cinching it down with the components inside, it compresses that gasket and gives us a nice, good seal all the way around. At the back of the unit, there's an additional foam pad that runs across to help provide support for the unit as it hangs off towards the back there.

This AC unit is a 14,500 BTU unit, which is gonna be more than enough for the room that we've got here in our trailer. And we've also tied it to the rooftop vents. And it should be enough to cool the entirety of our trailer here. Now, there is a second unit that is installed on this trailer. So, what this is gonna really do for us is we're gonna be able to ensure that on those ridiculously hot days, we can maintain comfortable temperatures inside.

And on those days where maybe we're out hanging out and we haven't been back to our campsite in a while, we get home and it's really hot in here and we wanna cool this down fast. We've got two units on here. With their collective power, we should be able to cool down the interior of this cabin very quickly, so we can enjoy the temperature we want while we're relaxing. So, now we're taking the temperature coming out of our vents here. And it looks like we're at right about the mid-30s, which is exactly where we wanna be there, in the mid-30s.

That ensures that our temperature sensor that we've installed on our evaporator inside is properly reading the temperature of our evaporator. It's ensuring it doesn't get too cold to where the evaporator freezes up, but it's gonna get us as close to that threshold as possible to maximize the efficiency of our system here. Getting the most potential cooling that we can out of it. On our air distribution box here, where the air comes out of the system, we've got two outlets. One at the front and also one at the back. These can be closed off, so you can choose how much air flow you want and where you want that air flow directed. Each one can be closed off individually. And you're probably wondering, why would I wanna close them both off But depending on how you've got the unit plumbed into your system, we close off both of these. And now, we don't have air coming out of our air distribution box. It's forcing it all out of our rooftop vents. So, if you're looking for a full camper cooldown, that can be a solution to help get this cold air, from our unit up here at the front, back to those compartments towards the back. And we can crack this open if we just need a little bit more here for us in this cabin. It's really nice. You can adjust this as necessary for however you have your setup. If you got people here in the front sleeping, people in the back, you can tweak that to get it all distributed the way you need it to. I've gone ahead and turn the system off, so we can take a closer look at our air distribution box on the inside. This one here is kind of just our standard air distribution box, but you can also get this with a light kit, so there'll be mood lighting set up inside with LEDs. We don't have that installed, but that is an option if it's something that you're interested in. The filters are located here on each side and these are removable. So that wa
