We get it. The New Republic needs to be flawed, marred by corruption, and overextended to justify how the First Order was able to rise in The Force Awakens. But with these New Republic scenes in Ahsoka and The Mandalorian, is Lucasfilm spending too much time shifting away from the storylines we care about, while retconning smart characters like Mon Mothma and Leia Organa to look foolish and weak? Does anyone really care that much about connecting everything to the First Order and The Force Awakens? What’s the difference between writing characters to be “plausibly and understandably flawed,” and “ridiculously naive and bad at their jobs, contradicting what we know and like about them”?
