A Farata fan (commonly a pedestal or stand fan) uses a single-phase induction motor, which has two sets of windings: the main (running) winding and the auxiliary (starting) winding. These are wound on a laminated stator core and are responsible for creating a rotating magnetic field that drives the rotor.

1. Main (Running) Winding:
• This is the primary winding that keeps the motor running after startup.
• It is made with thicker copper wire (e.g., 30 SWG).
• It is directly connected to the power supply.

2. Starting (Auxiliary) Winding:
• This helps to start the motor by creating a phase difference with the help of a capacitor.
• Made with thinner wire (e.g., 32 SWG).
• Connected in series with a capacitor (2.5µF to 4µF) to create the necessary starting torque.

3. Rotor:
• The rotor is a squirrel cage type and rotates due to the rotating magnetic field produced by the stator windings.
