THE INCINERATING GLORY--When Jesus Comes Back

1. The Ultimate Army: Jesus Empties Heaven

Summary of What's Covered: We kick off the class by looking at the sheer, unimaginable size of Christ's returning army. When the Son of Man comes in His glory, He isn't coming alone—He is bringing all the holy angels and "myriads" of His saints. That means uncountable thousands, perhaps millions or billions, of believers will return with Him. We also look at the prophecy of Enoch—the seventh from Adam—reminding us that God is a literal creationist who recorded a literal, 6,000-year history of humanity from the Garden of Eden.

2. The View From Megiddo: The Sky Splits Open
Scripture References: Biblical geography of Armageddon/Megiddo.
Summary of What's Covered: Next, we look at the incredible geography of the Second Coming. Did you know that when Jesus was growing up in the carpenter shop in Nazareth, He could actually look out the window across the valley and see Megiddo? When He returns to that exact valley, the rebellious armies gathered there will look up and see a speck in the sky. That speck will suddenly spread out like a massive V-formation of migrating geese. Jesus will be leading the charge on horseback, backed by billions of angels—remembering that it only took one angel to strike down all the firstborn of Egypt in a single night!

3. The Consuming Fire: Christ's Incinerating Glory
Scripture References: 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8.
Summary of What's Covered: Finally, we look at the terrifying force of His arrival: His incinerating glory. Paul tells us that the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels "in flaming fire". He is coming to execute judgment and take vengeance on those who have rejected Him. We break down the absolute simplest definition of salvation found right here in the text: knowing God and obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Anyone who rejects this simple offer of grace will face the devastating fire of the King's return.
