Should you pick up your cores after aerating?

Should you leave your cores? Or pick them up after aerating? In my opinion i will pick them up. Highly compacted soil and lawn like my yard i believe to puck them up. I want to get rid of that compaction and make new room for the soil to mingle and form together. It is a personal choice, make that choice for whats best with your yard.
