Water Over the Bridge

Every single day, all over the world, the sea creeps up the coastline, and the distance between the top of the water and the bottom of bridges decreases, eliminating the possibility of shipping traffic for global freight to get under those structures. From the competitive ports of China, to the innovative flood gates of the Netherlands, to the shifting sands of the Outer Banks, UNC American studies professor Rachel Willis is developing global ideas and solutions to help port communities cope with the impact of climate change.
