We are looking at the stages of makeup application for older women. Our first video starts with my totally makeup-free face and focuses on primer, which many women may not even be familiar with.

Primers answer a dilemma that many women over 60 might be facing. Many of us are still applying makeup they’ve used for years. This might include heavy powder or cream foundations.

To create a more natural makeup look, new tinted moisturizers and lightweight foundations have emerged in the last few years.

They give the face luminosity and less of a “made up” look, but they do not always have the “staying power” that a lot of women love. So, primers were created to “set” a lightweight foundation, or eliminate the need for foundation altogether.
