Wilshire Blvd. 1951 Reminiscing
El Rey theater, General Insurance Co., Van de Kamp's, May Company, rotating Beacon, Richard Widmark, Frogmen. I mentioned Santa Barbara street, which today is MLK or Martin Luther King Street. I believe the shopping center is still there. Anchor stores were May Company and the Broadway as I recall. We typically bought clothes for me at J.C. Penney's in that shopping center. A very nice young man offered us the best service. There were lines running from the store up to offices on a second floor where messages were physically sent. It was cool.
