Owner's story Mercedes Benz 230s 1966
I bought the MB from a man near me. This person could no longer drive his car because of rheumatism. I took over the car from him knowing that the previous owner has always driven it with a lot of love and pleasure and has always had his maintenance APKs and turns.
It was a beautiful car with a lot of history that could use some attention.
Here and there there were some light rust bubbles and the trunk (inside) was not very good.
I bought the car from him and took a battery with me and the car actually started in 1x and then drove it to my workshop where I have already done many restorations.
I took the time to restore it where necessary and replace the parts that were bad or in need of replacement such as the rear bumper which was not very good. This one was bought from a MB oldtimer company in Boxtel and I had it de-chromed and after a few sanding and polishing turns again had it chrome plated.
After a while I started on the motor part and encountered poor running and stalling of the engine. The cause turned out to be the fuel tank that was dirty. The car did not run well due to the old gasoline and baggage. In short, the tank removed and professionally cleaned, hoses, pipes, fuel pump and filter replaced and the carburettors cleaned and also put in a number of new parts so that the engine ran much better again. But I was still not completely satisfied and the car was still taken care of by S.T.S. from Hellevoetsluis and they have renewed the contact points, replaced the vacuum pump power distributor and the vacuum pump stationary distributor and I must say that the limousine runs like a charm again. All cylinders were measured for pressure (see photo) and that was above expectations, so there is no wear.
The sky was also bad, so it was replaced by a new one and the window rubbers were taken along and the entry rubbers were also done!
For example, the Mercedes Benz has received a lot of attention and that can be seen and noticed and of course all invoices etc. are available for inspection, but of course a new owner will have his own wishes and try to make the car its own, such as the rear lights that are a bit dull. (see photo) but the base is good and can be driven immediately.
