The authorities of the polar city of Vorkuta in Komi intend to resettle 62 families from the closing village of Komsomolsky in 2022. And also by the end of 2025, it is planned to resettle 300 families from the village of Zapolyarny and complete the so-called “controlled compression” program, Vorkuta Mayor Yaroslav Shaposhnikov announced this on March 23, 2022. As a result, by 2025 the villages of Komsomolsky and Zapolyarny will be completely closed.
