Making an 18th Century Suit Part I: Research

For the Carnevale in Venice every year, people from all over Europe and the world dress in 18th century costume and spend their time looking fancy. At the last Carnevale, I wore a really quickly thrown together ensemble.

My plan was to quickly but rigorously make a better 1750s suit for next year's event, but now (thanks to the Mighty Rona) it can be a lot more laid back. This suit is going to be my toughest tailoring challenge yet, and it'll need to be well researched and have a lot of time invested in it.

Join me in the first steps of this new costuming journey, as I look at the sources that can be useful in researching this kind of work, and share some of the lessons I've learned from past mistakes!
