Coley the Blue/ Gold Macaw

Nov. 20th.2017. Got a call from a friend who asked if I could help her rescue a bird in the tree. When I got there there was a big beautiful blue/gold macaw named Coley sitting on the 50'+ high Magnolia tree top. I saw there were almond slices, wild bird seeds and grapes on the ground to try to lure the Coley to come down from the tree for last couple days.

I knew that this threat would not work for Coley, I rush home and bought some shelled walnuts, shelled almonds and tangerine to the tree. In the meantime, many neighbors and friends were all there trying to help. When Coley saw all the shelled nut he was got so excited he want to come down. Somehow he slipped on the branch and flew in circle and back to same tree again. It was getting really dark, Coley was able to reach and ate couple pieces of tangerines and a walnut that we tied on a paint extend pole.
When the sun went down we had to let him stay out another night.

I went there very early next morning. So glad to see Coley still stayed there on the same tree and same spot. Couple of friends showed up and tried to use ladder, hoping Coley would come down from the ladder to the ground, but it didn't work. The attempt scared Coley to another tree across the street. This time, no one would be able to climb that skinny birch tree and they all left to their work.

Now, this time is only between me and Coley. Coley had been paying a lot of attention watching me. I put some walnuts and almond on the ground. Just a minute later he started climbing down from branch to branch. But in 5 minutes Coley was above my head. He was so calm and busy eating the nuts and tangerine that I was handing to him. Now I thought it was about time to try to pick up the carrier and open the door. He was half way in the carrier and busy gripping a walnut in carrier.
