Why I Switched From Lulu to IngramSpark

For years, whenever I helped students publish books—or experimented with my own projects—I used lulu.com.
And honestly? Lulu was GREAT for learning the process.
Easy setup.
Simple printing.
Low pressure.
But now that I’m preparing to publish The Last King of Äncale…
I switched to ingramspark.com.
Why?
Because I realized I wasn’t just trying to print a book anymore.
I was trying to build a publishing presence.
And IngramSpark gives me things that matter long-term: 👉 wider bookstore distribution
👉 library access
👉 better industry integration
👉 more professional hardcover options
👉 the ability to go wide beyond Amazon
That doesn’t mean Lulu is bad.
Honestly, I still think it’s fantastic for: 👉 first-time authors
👉 classrooms
👉 personal projects
👉 smaller print runs
But for where I am now?
IngramSpark feels more aligned with where I’m heading.
Especially since I’m balancing: 👉 querying agents
👉 indie publishing possibilities
👉 special editions
👉 global distribution
And honestly?
Learning publishing as an indie author feels like learning an entirely second profession.
