'The Collected Schizophrenias' by Esmé Weijun Wang | Book Discourse

Experience shapes identity. For better or worse, nurture defines who we are. This is not to say that we are forever victims of circumstance, but rather that the reality of our circumstances are part of the truth of our being. So to deny those circumstances is to deny the truth of our being. Ableism is a denial of that kind.
