Mushtaq and Terry Hall

All was not totally lost when in 2003 came the Mushtaq collaboration Hour of two lights album, something I would never have listened to in a million years had it not come from the Hall brand, and surprisingly it was excellent. The album is perhaps as with much of Halls work just slightly too ahead of its time. Again an Albarn connection is made and it was put out by Honest Jons.

Categorizing the album is a bit of a bugger. Finding it in the rock and pop section of Virgin Megastore seems both right and wrong as it simply doesn't sit comfortably amongst the other albums around it.

It is a rich, contemporary blend of Eastern and Western musical beats and structures and ideas? Surely that cannot be a million miles away from the philosophies behind the original 2 tone idea.
