Author and historian Thomas Frank, predicted much of this in one of Jim Braude’s favorite books, What's the Matter with Kansas, which discussed working class Americans voting against their economic self-interests. In his latest, Rendezvous with Oblivion: Reports from a Sinking Society, Frank dissects a decade of relentless capitalism, and the wave of angry populism that drove the 2016 election.
