Data indicates this is the most prolonged heat spell recorded in over 50 years, with daytime temperatures consistently above 40°C between May 16 and June 17. Additionally, 'warm nights' are contributing to severe heat stress on the human body. An analysis by Hindustan Times highlights the extreme conditions, noting this as the longest spell since 1951 in many parts of northwest India.
