Major Crash Injures Multiple People In National City

12.20.2018 | 12:58 PM | NATIONAL CITY - A major injury crash sent multiple people including children to area hospitals, Thursday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the reported crash at the intersection of Paradise Valley Road and Plaza Boulevard shortly before 1:00 AM.

Units arriving on scene located a three-vehicle crash with a total of nine injured and multiple people trapped in the wreckage.

Firefighter paramedics worked to quickly extricate the trapped victims using heavy rescue tools including the jaws of life.

A total of nine people, including six who were suffering from reportedly major injuries, were transported to a number of area hospitals.

Initial reports from the scene indicate a white Scion was traveling eastbound on Paradise Valley Road before crossing the center divide and slamming into another vehicle in a head-on collision.

Police are on scene continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
