Fireboard Drive Test Run: how good can the fan add-on control temperature in the kettle?

My go-to Thermometer Fireboard is now available in Europe. If you use this link (European customers only) https://bbqeurope.idevaffiliate.com/104.html I will get a commission. A great way to support my channel. Thanks folks.

The Fireboard is a 6-probe thermometer with bluetooth and wifi. Recently Fireboard Drive was released, an adapter cable that hooks up to the auxiliary port on the side of the device and powers/controls any BBQ fan that runs on 12 volts (which most of them do). A second port on the cable allows you to connect a 12V power adapter. The fan will also run off the Fireboard battery.

I gave it a test run without any food in the grill to get a feel for it. Most of what you see here is applicable to any high quality thermostatic controller.

In the video you will see I am using the Slow'n'Sear, which in itself already does an awesome job of keeping temps in the kettle stable. So why a thermostatic controller? For those very long jobs that run over night I consider it a safety net.
