This course will help you learn the most essential concepts and principles of systems thinking and complexity theory. The course is structured around four mains sections each containing five key principles.

Complexity theory & Systems Thinking
In this first section we will gain a basic understanding of what we mean by the terms "systems thinking" and "complexity theory" as well as understand the ideas of a system and complexity.

Holism
In this section we will focus on understand better the idea of holism as a paradigm that is essential to understanding complex systems because of their emergent features.

Emergence
In this section we will learn about the idea of emergence and how it works through the process of self-organization.

Connectivity
In this section we will learn about the centrality of a "relational paradigm" to systems thinking as it helps us better understand complex systems due to their highly interconnected and networked nature.

Adaptation
In this final section we will learn about adaptive thinking and evolution as a process for understanding how complex adaptive systems change over time.
